William Hazlitt (1778-1830) was an English writer, critic, and painter. Hazlitt was considered one of the greatest literary critics of his time, and his work is still appreciated to this day. Hazlitt was also known for his political writings, specifically defenses for the ideologies behind the French Revolution. He wrote throughout his entire life, and in his last years he was attempting to create a biography for Napoleon Bonaparte. This endeavor was unsuccessful.
